How We Got Started

As a family activity, we decided to make some hockey wax at home for ourselves, and after watching a few YouTube videos, we got to work. Once it was done, I asked my dad if I could make more and sell it to my friends. My brother responded, "Me too!" My dad then said, "Hey, you’ve always wanted your own business. Why not give it a try?"

The Evolution

Our wax has always maintained its high quality, but our packaging has evolved significantly over time!

2016

The first generation of tins launched in 2016, used a clear lid, allowing customers to see the wax inside.

2017

Our second generation featured a stronger gold tin with colourful stickers on the front and back, complete with more details and UPC codes.

2019

With sales increasing, we were able to source fully painted tins for our third generation, saving us time on applying stickers and adding even more colour to the tins.

2025

Our final tin coming soon is fully redesigned and looks modern and fresh with our new logo. This tin now is fully bilingual with french and english.

How We Got The Name

Our family’s last name is Zister, and going all the way back to our great-grandfather, every member of our family has naturally grown up with the nickname “Zip” or “Zippy.” It felt only fitting to use our family nickname for our wax, honoring the legacy that has been passed down through generations.

A fun fact: every family member has a license plate with "ZIP" on it. For example, our dad, being the third generation, has the plate ZIP III, while Pops had ZIP 01. So, if you see a vehicle with ZIP on the road, you’ll know it’s a member of our family!
