How We Got Started

As a family activity, we decided to make hockey wax at home for ourselves. After watching a few YouTube videos, we got to work and made our first batch. Once it was done, I asked my dad if I could make more and sell it to my friends. My brother jumped in right away and said, “Me too!”

How We Got The Name

Our family’s last name is Zister, and going all the way back to our great-grandfather, “Zip” or “Zippy” has been a natural nickname in our family. Every generation grew up with it, so when it came time to name our wax, using Zippy’s just felt right. It honours a family legacy that’s been passed down for generations.

Fun fact: every member of our family even has a license plate with “ZIP” on it. Our dad, the third generation, drives with ZIP III, while Pops had ZIP 01. So if you ever spot a car with “ZIP” on the road, you’ll know it’s a member of our family!
